Salvage cars may be category N, X, U, S and there are many more. Usually they are damaged cars but some may be cars that were uninsured. In this discussion I'm going to show some cars that are available and talk you through them. I'll be using Silverlake and Copart to help me.
◾️ Category N is your safest option. This is where there is no chassis damage or nothing that is vital for the structure of the car has been damaged. Fords are well-known for being cheap to repair which is why I've found this ST-line from 2019 with Cat N damage. It shares a lot of parts with the ST too on the exterior and interior. https://auctions.silverlake.co.uk/auction/items/details/2019-ford-fiesta-st-line-999cc-turbo-petrol-manual-6-speed-3-door-hatchback/165849
◾️ Is 2019 too new for you, because classics such as these two cars are also up for auction. Up first is the Porsche 944 with a low 42,000 miles and a dream Ford Escort XR3 with a staggering 20,000 miles. Both are Category U which means they were uninsured and have accident damage. With this many miles it would be worth over £20,000. https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/43510561/clean-title-1983-porsche-944-rochford https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/45189501/clean-title-1983-ford-escort-xr3-colchester
◾️£20,000 is a lot which is why I found a car with a wonder of an engine. The BMW 323i E46 was only on sale for less than 2 years. Under the bonnet was a 2.5l straight 6. It may only have around 180BHP but still managed 0-60 in 8.2 seconds. However, in tis car it is all about the way it feels which the e46 pulls of. It also in real world conditions can average 30MPG. Good for an old petrol powered car. The one I found was also category U and the damage is very minor. Under 90,000 miles too.

◾️180BHP not enough for you. Well, I found a 2011 Audi RS5 with 90,000. This 4.2l V8 produces 450BHP and 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. But it is so easy to achieve these figures in this car. Its a shame the handling can't match an equivalent BMW but on the plus side it does mean it is a great long-distance cruiser. The one I found is Category X which is very similar to Category U. https://auctions.silverlake.co.uk/auction/items/details/2011-audi-a5-rs5-fsi-quattro-4163cc-petrol-semi-auto-7-speed-2-door-coupe/166193
◾️What if your not the person who likes auctions. On Copart they do have a handful which although are up for auction, they do have a buy it now price. The best car I've found is a Renault Twingo. It's Cat N and can be yours for £1600 and nobody can auction you out. https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/44012011/clean-title-2016-renault-twingo-the-bristol
